To Prospective Log Home Buyers:
My wife and I decided five years ago to build the home of our dreams. We thought we wanted a log structure and began to investigate the various suppliers located in the northeast.
We thoroughly studied the process from start to finish. We attended home shows to get ideas from the design perspective, as well as visiting log suppliers. We also attended technical seminars on the construction process to know what questions to ask any prospective log supplier or general contractor and to be able to gauge the quality of their work.
We became convinced that KSM in Mifflintown, Pa. offered the best combination of high quality in both design and materials, along with technical expertise and experience that was second to none. At the same time we found their pricing to be very competitive, which enabled us to build a larger home for our budget dollars.
As we visited their completed homes in the central Pennsylvania area, it became evident as well, that one builder in particular, Metzler Construction, was providing a superior combination of quality and value to their customers. The owners raved about their craftsmanship, attention to detail and their determination to do the job right the first time.
Although we had bids from other log companies and contractors, we found that the combination of KSM Homes and Metzler Construction was ideal to build our dream home. We were not disappointed!
We began construction in May of 2006 and moved in the following October. Our construction experience only confirmed and enhanced our respect for the work of both companies.
They both did what they said they were going to do, when they said they would do it. They were able to provide solutions to any design changes we suggested and, at the same time, they were not reticent to tell us when they felt a change was contrary to sound design or structural principles. They always offered helpful suggestions to solve any issues that arose.
We could not have been happier with our finished home and could not offer any higher recommendation, to anyone contemplating the construction of a log structure, than KSM and Metzler. Both Dave Hicks and Jim Metzler are truly excellent at what they do. Both are exceptional craftsmen whose ability and integrity are unquestioned!
